ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Wayne Hamburger

Wayne was born and raised in DuQuoin, Illinois and attended the city school system. He is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University and also attended Southern Illinois University and the University of Illinois. He is married to his childhood sweetheart, the former Amanda Ellen Dennis, also of DuQuoin. They have been married forty-six years and have no children.

Wayne is a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Air Force for four years with one year overseas in Korea. He was employed by the Illinois Department of Public Aid for 30 years, serving in numerous positions throughout the state of Illinois. He retired in 1985 as a state administrator. He and his wife have enjoyed sharing interests with numerous friends that they have made in many locations in Illinois, and also the various travels as a member of the Air Force. They have made twenty-six separate moves during the course of their marriage.

Wayne enjoys music, with classical and gospel his favorites. His hobbies are gardening, walking for exercise and writing. He has also participated in church musicals as well as Eldorado Project Bounce Community Theater. He was cast as Dr. Emmett in the "Curious Savage" and as the sheriff and weatherman in "Greater Tuna."
