Gospel Assembly Church
Anonymous Audio Tape

On March 1, 2000, I received a small package in the mail. There was no return address on the envelope, and my name and address was typed. The only thing in the package was an audiotape, with 3 dates typed on the front of it:

May 29, 1996
June 2, 1996
June 26, 1996

When I listened to this tape, it was obvious that the dates refer to the three separate conversations recorded on it. The conversations are of someone who sounds like Lloyd Goodwin, and he is speaking to someone else-- though you can only hear his side of the conversation, so apparently he is speaking with someone on the phone. He refers to the person he's speaking to as "Bridget" and "Bridge" several times. He also mentions another person whom he refers to as "Sister June." The visitor to this web page can draw his or her own conclusions.

I assume Lloyd Goodwin recorded these conversations himself, for some strange reason. Below, I have typed out these conversations as best I could. There is some background noise, and a few places on the tape are inaudible. It is a little easier to make out the words on my home stereo-- it lost a little clarity when I converted it to the computer wav files. I'm going to take the tape to a professional soon to see if I can get the background noise cleaned up.

You can listen to the sound bytes if you wish, and follow along with what I typed. I had to break conversation one and conversation three into parts. Some of these audio files might take a while to download, but I would say they are worth the wait.

FIRST CONVERSATION-- DATED MAY 29, 1996

Audio Sound Part I

Hi Darling, how's my baby? I'm gonna marry you. I want you to read first Kings 3:5, and 15. First Kings 3:5, first Kings chapter 3 verse 5, and verse 15. When Solomon talked to the Lord, and the Lord talked to Solomon in a dream. And verse 15 said, "and he awoke and he knew it was a dream." I think the Lord talked to me. And the Lord appeared to me in a dream. I knew it was the Lord. I'm calm. I'm so calm. Our future is already beginning to take place... [inaudible] ...and I thank God for it.

Audio Sound Part 2

You're my wife, honey. Are you all right? Can I call you in the morning...[inaudible] ...you smile at me. And I love you. Nighty night. I'm doing right, aren't I, tomorrow night? Well that way, I don't have to take that woman out alone. It's really right. I think it's right. I know but I have to take these brethren out sometime tomorrow, and they're leaving pretty shortly--next week. [inaudible] Is it okay? That way I don't have to take her out alone. Okay? Will you smile at me, honey? And I'll call you tomorrow.

Audio Sound Part 3

Love you, very much. I'm very calm, and I just know the Lord has talked to me. It's definite-- in fact, my entire future. I'm... [inaudible] Smile at me, honey. Bridget, everything will be all right. God's in total control. I understand that now more than anything. See, the future, He controls the future. See, He's in charge of the future. We're not moving into unponderables or uncertainties. We're moving into a future controlled by God. Nothing can happen that He does not permit. I love you. [inaudible] Okay, smile at me. Bye Darling

SECOND CONVERSATION-- DATED JUNE 2, 1996

Audio-Sound 2

[throat clearing] Hi! I just called, nobody answered. Well I thought maybe you was already on your way. Getting ready? Okay darling, I won't hold you up. You know I love you. Smile at me Bridget. [inaudible] ...after service... [inaudible] ...hallway... [inaudible] ...drive carefully. Bye Darling.

THIRD CONVERSATION-- DATED JUNE 26, 1996

Audio3, part 1

[sounds like someone dialing on a phone] [throat clearing] [cough] Hi Darling. How's my ba-by? You feel better? [silence] You don't feel warmly? Well there's no way you-- you can play in the band tonight, or go to band practice tomorrow night. Huh? Yes she did. She told me you called. No, she was all upset. She wanted to know where you got your [sounds like TRC]. She said, you use the [sounds like TRC] don't you? I said, yes I do. Oh Bridge. I told her-- I know it was!

Audio3, part 2

I said: look sister June, I said, if she would have got the [sounds like TRC] from me, she just wouldn't have told you. I said, she would have hid it. I said, in fact she told you she got it from her father. Oh, it's just all the time, Bridget. You didn't do anything wrong, honey. You did nothing wrong. I just love you so much. You did nothing wrong. Nothing wrong. [inaudible] ...I'm wearing my new wash and wear shirts... [inaudible] ...I love you... [inaudible] ...You stay calm... [inaudible] ...You smile at me.

Audio3, part 3

You coming with your folks? Okay. Okay. You smile at me, and you know I love you. And you're going to be all right, honey. Bridget, stay on your routine. [silence] Do-- do what? Do what? Really? Okay. Okay. Mmmmm. No, no, no, I'll slip some over Friday night. I'll slip some over Friday night. I'll do it. I'll slip some over. You don't have to stay on that ten days, honey. If-- if you're... [inaudible] ...and you're immune... [inaudible] ...everything... I think you need to stay on it-- I think you need to stay on it through the weekend.

Audio3, part 4

I do. I'll slip you some on over. Try and do that. But you keep taking four a day. Just keep taking them. Okay? I'll slip you some more over Friday night. I might slip you some over tomorrow night during band practice. I-- I think I'll do that. I'll slip them over tomorrow night so you won't run out. How's that? Okay? Now you smile at me. And stay on your routine. And I'll see you tomorrow night with some more. Love you. Bye darling.
